A unique combination of naturopathy,
manual therapy, movement and sports.
Phytotherapy (herbal medicine)
With medicinal plants we create the basic conditions for the self-healing powers of your body. Stress reduction, healthy sleep, sufficient fluids and optimal organic health are the basis for tissues to heal better. All this can be positively influenced with plants and also an accompanying treatment is useful to increase performance in everyday life or sports.
Medicinal teas, ointments and tinctures
I like to combine the movement therapeutic measures with the application of phytotherapy. Both for complaints of the musculoskeletal system such as joint pain or intervertebral disc problems, but also and especially for organic causes, such as stomach or digestive problems or metabolic disorders.
I create your individually tailored recipe with selected plants. These have scientifically proven effects on organs and the musculoskeletal system, based on long-standing experience in naturopathy. You can then take the prescription to pharmacies specializing in phytotherapy. Together we will decide whether the use of medicinal teas, ointments or tinctures makes sense for you.
Breathing techniques
These serve me on the one hand to help the body to relax better. Certain types of breathing help to activate the vagus nerve and thus the parasympathetic nervous system. It’s the part of the autonomic nervous system that is responsible for relaxation, digestion, falling asleep, etc. It is in relaxation, without stress, that regeneration and healing are truly possible.
On the other hand, breathing in conjunction with optimal alignment of the pelvis and rib cage with one another is crucial: if they are not well balanced on top of one another, the diaphragm and pelvic floor cannot work together properly. This in turn can lead to a wide variety of pain symptoms. I will show you how to improve your breathing and posture.
Psychological aspects
Techniques of sports psychology can help in many ways to achieve your goals. They are important in the transfer and integration of the exercises and insights into everyday life. Some limiting beliefs can be questioned and transformed into a positive attitude, which in turn is the basis for well-being and better chances of healing.
Stress reduction and a healthy sleep is a basic requirement for the healing process. I provide you with information and help you to implement the practical measures that make sense for you.
Especially from the field of meditation and mindfulness many profound insights can be drawn and there are many studies on the positive effects on our brain and thus our physical condition. Together we will find out in the appropriate moments which small mindfulness exercises are suitable for you.
Anatomy in Motion (AiM)
In Anatomy in Motion by Gary Ward, the human gait is divided into several phases. During the diagnostics we found out together what your body is missing in which phase. This can be, for example, a limited mobility of the pelvis or a lack of rotational movement of your rib cage during the landing of a foot.
With the help of certain movement exercises we show your brain these movements under safe conditions. And remind it how to reintegrate them with ease into the overall movement of your gait, helping you to regain balance. When the body is in balance and finds its center, (self-) healing is possible. I will give you selected exercises to do at home every day to improve your mobility.
Improvement of foot function
We also work on your feet with the AiM methodology: I show you how to restore the functionality of the bones and joints of your feet with the help of special wedges (see pictures).
If the feet are stuck in one position or if a direction of movement for one of the 33 joints in a foot is restricted, this affects the entire body. Again, we train the brain to restore these functions to your gait pattern. So you can probably go without shoe insoles in the future.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)
This method was founded by Pavel Kolar and is based on the work of Vladimir Janda, Karel Lewit and Vaclav Vojta. Primarily, it focuses on three aspects that should facilitate painless and unrestricted movement:
Stabilization of the joints during dynamic movements; testing developmental steps of the human body in childhood, such as crawling or the deep squat in adults, and making them accessible again if necessary; making optimal breathing, i.e. the interaction between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor, possible again in these positions.
Muscle strengthening
I complete the movement therapy with classical sports therapy: if necessary, we strengthen selected muscles or train holistic movements to increase strength. We improve mobility and promote your ability to regenerate.
Thus, you can achieve the performance you want or need in everyday life and in your sport again. For this we mainly use functional training with your own body weight and sometimes we also use small equipment like the foam roller, dumbbells or the sling trainer (TRX).
Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT)
Neurokinetic Therapy by David Weinstock is a special manual muscle testing: I check the activation and the relationship of certain muscles to each other. In the case of pain symptoms and movement restrictions, I can find out which muscles are ‚offline‘, so to speak, and do not cooperate enough. And which ones have to step in and are overworked in the long run.
I then show you how to relax the overactive muscles and activate the inhibited ones. These short, time-effective exercises you will also perform at home, so that in the long term you will see an improvement.
Trigger point massage
I use this technique mainly in connection with the NKT method: Trigger points are small ‚tension nodules‘ in the muscles. They are called like this because they often trigger symptoms such as pain, pulling or tingling in other areas of the body when pressure is applied to them.
For example, tightness in the neck muscles can lead to tension pain in the eyebrow area. Together with NKT, I find trigger points in the overworked muscles. I show you how to release them and then reactivate the underactive muscles in that chain.
Classic massage, fascia and organ treatment
In order to make it easier for the body to use its self-healing powers, it is sometimes necessary to get it out of its stress mode: for this I use techniques of classic massage when suitable. In this way we support the part of the nervous system that is responsible for relaxation. As soon as the stress reaction subsides a little, the healing processes can also unfold their full power.
In some cases it may be necessary to treat the fascia and organs with special manual techniques: I draw on all fields of manual therapy. Among other things, stretching and massage can be used to help restore the fascia tissue to full functionality. Methods such as releasing a tense diaphragm can help improve problems of the digestive organs, for example.
Lymph drainage
The lymph is THE decisive factor for the healing of many diseases, if not all: if it gets stuck, the removal of waste products from the body is massively restricted. I use simple manual techniques to ensure that your lymph can flow freely again.
And movement is especially important for this: since the lymph is not driven by the heart like the blood in the arteries, it is dependent on the movement of the body to keep it flowing. If it is appropriate, I will show you simple applications for at home to stimulate the lymph flow again and to help your body in the self-healing process in the truest sense of the word.
