ANAMNESIS
Whether prevention or rehabilitation: during our first appointment we take a lot of time to talk in detail about your complaints, the history of the disease, previous therapies and possible other factors.
I take a look at any findings that have already been made and we define together what goal we will pursue.
ANALYSIS
Postural assessment
First, I examine your posture and assess certain areas of your body, such as: are your shoulders level, is there a pelvic tilt, or do you habitually hold your head a certain way?
Gait analysis with video recording
I take videos of your gait from the front and from the side, so that I can get a slow-motion impression of which movements you are missing or have difficulty with when walking. This allows me to make a selection of which joints or movements we will reintegrate into your gait pattern together.
Painful movements
In order to tailor the exercises even more specifically to you, I get a picture of which movements, such as lifting your arm, stretching your knees etc., are causing you pain. This is then further evaluated and specified with the help of the tests mentioned below.
Foot scan with force plate
Using the force plate, I obtain valuable information, both while standing and dynamically while walking: how is the pressure distribution and force curve within your feet?
Are you standing more on one leg than the other, or are you putting more load on your front foot than your back foot?
This way you can visualize your own posture in real time on the laptop screen and later immediately see the effects that the exercises have on your body.
TESTS
Manual Muscle Testing
With manual muscle testing according to the NKT (Neurokinetic Therapy) protocol, I find out which of your muscles are inhibited and which are overworked. Both can cause pain and movement restrictions. Therefore, I test the relationship of the muscles to one another. On this basis, you will then receive therapeutic exercises from me to address these imbalances.
Movement Screens
In each phase of your gait, the pelvis, ribcage and head should be able to assume certain positions to ensure optimal balance while walking. We will find out together, according to the principles of the AiM (Anatomy in Motion) method, which movements are easy for you and which we should make accessible to your body again, e.g.: can your pelvis rotate and tilt in both directions? How does your ribcage behave in relation to the movements of your head?
Foot function and mobility
Also according to the principles of the AiM method, I examine your feet: they form the basis for everything that takes place above them. If they are restricted in pronation or supination or stuck in this position, this affects the mobility of the rest of the body and thus your gait and posture, which in turn can cause pain.
Joint tests and palpation
In the case of specific, local symptoms, it is necessary to check the affected joints and tissues with specific tests and palpations. In this way I can diagnose shortening of the muscles or structural restrictions (such as a calcified shoulder) and adjust the exercises accordingly.
